BRAND CONCEPT 「ダーティな、フルアコ。」

「フルアコ」と言うとジャズと連想がちだが、そもそもソリッドギターが登場する前は、カントリー、ブルース、R&B、R&R、大衆音楽など全てフルアコにて奏でられていた。その当時のサウンドと言えば、アンプも黎明期であり、小型のチューブ・アンプのヴォリュームを上げ、ズ太いドライブ・サウンドである。その時代のワイルドさも「フルアコ」と言うギターの魅力であると言う事を伝えたい。その為に、新たなブランドを立ち上げた。「KING SNAKE（キングスネーク）」。この言葉は、昔のブルースには良く歌われている。フルアコじゃないと出せない良き汚れた音。そこへ焦点を絞り切った新ブランドである。テキサスブルースの雄ブルースマン、ライトニン・ホプキンスは、自分のギターの中にヘビの抜け殻を入れていた。「こうするといい音するんだぜ」と。片やホワイト・カントリー・プレイヤー達はギター、フィドル、マンドリンの中にガラガラヘビのシッポを入れていた。「いい音がするんだよ」と。そして、MOJOがあると言う意味だそうだ（ブードゥー教ににおいて金運やギャンブル運、女性運を向上させるための意味）。昔のアメリカ・ミュージシャン内で楽器内にそれ等を入れる事が流行った意味が分かる。

話しを日本に向ければ、ヘビは、弁才天の使いとして富をもたらすものとして有名であり、縁起が良い動物として知られる。古くから神様の使いとも言われており、運気アップアイテムとしては欠かせないものだそうだ。それを総合し、キングスネークと言うブランドにした。その意味も含め、デビューモデルである Detroit One初回分には、「ヘビの抜け殻」を付属した。ポールパイソンの抜け殻だ。1940年代~50年代にフルアコ使用しながらもアンプをドライブさせて醸し出されたBLUES、R&Bに焦点を絞り切ったフルアコ。それに準じたスペックとしてある。Detroit Oneは、17”サイズの薄胴プライウッド・ボディ。薄胴故にフルアコながらも音のスピードを速める為、薄胴プライウッド・ボディとし、その分低域を稼ぐ為に17”サイズ採用。ルックス的にジョン・リー・フッカーがフルアコを抱えた時の粋さと同じにしてある。サウンドもだ。ピックアップも各モデル用にオリジナルにて作成した。今の時代性に準じたモデルでは決して無い。しかしながら、「フルアコ」と言うギターを、今以上に皆が手にするようになれば、市場の音楽が今以上に豊かになるように思う。

BRAND CONCEPT 「Dirty & Wildness 」

"Before the advent of solid guitars, country, blues, R&B, R&R, and popular music were all played on fully hollow guitars. In those days, amplifiers were in their infancy, and the sound was a thick driving sound from a small tube amp with the volume turned up. We want to convey that the wildness of that era is also the charm of the "fully hollow" guitar. For that purpose, We launched a new brand.

It's called "KING SNAKE". This phrase is often sung in old blues songs. A good dirty sound that can only be produced with a fully holow. This is a new brand that focuses on that. Texas bluesman Lightnin' Hopkins used to keep a snake shell in his guitar. "He said, "That's what makes it sound so good. White country players used to put rattlesnake tails in their guitars, fiddles and mandolins. "It sounds great." And it means there's a MOJO (in voodoo, it's meant to improve luck with money, gambling and women). I can see why it was so popular among American musicians in the past to put them in their instruments.
Turning to Japan, snakes are known as the messengers of the goddess Benzaiten, and are known to bring wealth and good luck. They have also been said to be messengers of the gods since ancient times, and are indispensable as items to improve one's luck. The brand name "King Snake" is a synthesis of these two. The first batch of Detroit One, the debut model, came with a "snake's shell" as well. The Detroit One is a full hollow that focuses on the BLUES and R&B that was produced by driving an amplifier while using a full acoustic in the 1940s and 1950s.

The Detroit One has a 17" thin plywood body. It has a thin plywood body to speed up the sound speed even though it is a full hollow acoustic. The look is the same as John Lee Hooker's look when he held a full hollow guitar. The sound is the same. Original pickups were made for each model. This is not a model that follows the current trends. However, I think that if more people get their hands on "full hollow" guitars, the music market will be richer than ever.
